Effectiveness of DRTA Strategy in Improving the Reading Skills

This study aimed to evaluate the reading level of grade 7 learners before and after conduct intervention determine effectiveness Directed Reading-Thinking Activity (DRTA). The was measured using Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI) tool where word recognition comprehension are variables used. On recognition, mispronunciation, repetition, substitution, omission, insertion, reversal transposition considered miscues while determined by scores in questions. is their taken from Phil-IRI formula. researcher used experimental group respondents teaching DRTA. Mindanao State University-Maguindanao who experienced modular learning for last two school years elementary, 2020 – 2022. conducted September October instruments selection consisting 134 words 10 Results revealed that there a significant difference on respondents’ terms with t-value -8.388 -14.357 use It therefore concluded DRTA has positive effect improving skills VII.
